Punting and Pimms

Believe it of not this was not a posed picture, I just happen to pout naturally (or be mid-conversation)

As I had Matt, Lucie and Alex, (all non-southerners) staying I felt it was only right but to educate them in the the traditional Cambridge summer activity of Punting. If you don't know what it is, it's basically standing on the back of a boat and pushing it along with a big pole, like gondolas in Venice. It's always so much fun, especially when the weather is as nice as it has been recently.

We usually get the big ferry punts because we always go in a big group, but there weren't any left. So we had to split and get two normal sized punts which are a lot less stable and harder to punt! Most of us were atrocious so left it to Emma the bionic woman and Matt.

We punted along the backs so could see lots of the University colleges; Kings looked amazing. We also heard lots of information and facts from the professional punting tours as we went along, I'm not sure how much of it was true and how much was made up for tourists. After all our hard work punting/sunbathing we moved on to The Granta pub by the river for some well-earned Pimms.

We did a bit more sightseeing but were all flagging a bit so got the train to a nearby village and went to a local pub called The Plough. It has recently opened and is gorgeous. One glass of wine turned into a bottle and some nibbles.

I was a lovely end to a lovely couple of days with the best company!
XOXO
